Over 200!

There's  a number beside my followers. It's over 200 now. I'm sure that's an over-estimation of who actually reads and follows Newstuff, but I know a few of you who would appreciate a post of this nature.

 Over 200 miles an hour-

The "Lightning" electric cycle is now a new motorcycle that runs purely on electricity and zooms along better than most of it's combustion engine counterparts.

Here's a rundown on a few of the specifications as listed on the company's website:

Battery Pack-
345V 11kwh safe LiFePo4 nano phosphate battery pack

Motor-
3 phase AC liquid cooled 104kw 12,000 rpm motor

Front Brakes-
Dual Brembo 310mm disc; Brembo radial-mount forged 4-piston calipers

Wheels/Tires-front-back/-
Marchesini forged aluminum 3.5" x 17",(front)/6.0'' x 17",(rear) 120/70ZR17 - Race Compound

Braking System-

User programmable Data acquisition with track mapping and interactive data analysis software

This is the ultimate in green tech for the speed demons.
If you care about the earth, but also want to pass it by in a blur, this is the motorcycle for you.

Unfortunately it may cost more than 200 arms and legs, as of the posting they have yet to put a pricetag on their website.

I am not a very good rider of cycles, but when it comes to green technology and super fast bikes, I have to take a ride!

 Have a great week!

  4. Congrats on hitting the 200. There are several amazing electric engines that can outshine combustion engines, but they are just too much to produce :(

    1. Thanks for the grats. I hope that components for these things get so cheap that every one could afford to build one themselves.

  5. The only problem with the "green" technology is the sticker price. It has to be affordable to a mass market or it won't survive. I hope these companies can one day out compete their rivals. Congratulations on the milestone!!

    1. Very true. I share in that hope of competition driving down the prices. Thanks for the congratulations.

  6. Congrats! I honestly think these electric cars/motorcycles are way overrated though. I mean, you plug it in instead of filling it with gas, but the electricity that goes into it comes from coal being burnt. Same effect as using gas...

    1. Thanks. I do believe that a few companies are looking past this as a "fad" and taking it so seriously that they will stake their entire futures on it.

Some sources also use hydro-electric, nuclear, or wind turbine energy for their areas. Coal will still be used where those do not do as well, or where legislators and lobbyists intend on putting them.

  8. Congratulations on amassing 200 followers!

If the price was low enough, an electric motorcycle might interest me.

    1. Thank you, T. If there were more demand for this, the supply might rise, therefore lowering the price. Let's all clamor for one and see them at a dollar a piece! Hehe, wish it worked that way.

    1. That'd be so many limbs that they'd have to start calling you the human tree. Then you'd have to get them all extracted to pay for and ride the bike. It'd still be worth it, lol. I'd do it. Thanks.

  12. Thanks. I don't even want to look at the tag, unless I have won a contest that gives it to me as a prize. Even then, I don't want to look at the amount of taxes I'd have to pay, haha.

  13. Congratulations! And I'm not into motorcycles, I prefer my bike(so Dutch haha), because I haven't my drivers license yet.. Maybe I'll be more interested about some years.

  21. Congrats! And if we could turn this technology into a muscle car that still SOUNDS like a muscle car, I'm sold. I'm not a big fan of bikes, and while it'd be cool to zip from 0-60 in 3 seconds in just about anything, a part of the joy is lost if it's almost completely silent doing it. VROOM, VROOM, I say.

  36. Congrats! To be honest, I think the electric motorcycles don't look good enough to cost as much as they do!

They should either make them cheaper or really sexy.
