3D Printing: Plotting Past the Planes

In this post, I will explore the area of 3d printing. This type of manufacturing has been in existence for a while, as there are currently many different manufacturers of 'at home' kits that utilize this type of printing. From commercial setups that run into the millions of dollars to the most basic DIY kits that run about a thousand dollars, almost everyone can get their own slice of this three dimensional pie.

I'm wanting to hit the fast-forward button on this one. I first heard of it around the turn of the century and thought we'd have replicators in our houses by now. There has been quite a few leaps in progress, but nothing to satiate my sci-fi desires.

Iranian dentists are now using 3d printing to make very accurate dentures. The patients who wear them say that they fit right out of the box. Plenty of artists now use 3d printing to materialize their sculptures. In the future, I see actual working organs printed out and transplanted into the human body.

What would you replicate if you got just one thing to make and keep?
